Starting a business abroad: organise the business and the move
You are preparing both a move and a business activity abroad. The two projects intersect, but they do not always progress at the same pace. To avoid a forgotten formality blocking everything, keep two separate journeys and make their dependencies visible.
Describe the activity before choosing the structure
Write a simple one-page outline: what you sell, to whom, from which country, with which partners and with what resources. Specify whether you need premises, employees, stock or sector-specific authorisation. You can share this description with the professionals you consult.
Then ask for an answer on your precise scenario. A company formation offer does not answer every question about future operations. Compare the scope of services, the recurring obligations covered and the exclusions.
Check local requirements early
In Paraguay, the published EAS conditions include requirements for the legal representative. In Malaysia, the SSM states that a private company must have at least one director ordinarily resident in the country, among other conditions. These examples show why you need to check each person’s role in the structure.
Record the answer needed for each role: shareholder, director, legal representative or employee. Also ask which procedures concern your stay and your personal work activities. Compare the formation timetable with your relocation timetable.
Build two connected journeys
In the personal journey, track household documents, residency, housing and schooling. In the business journey, track confirmation that the activity is permitted, the choice of structure, incorporation and preparation for day-to-day operations.
Connect the steps that genuinely depend on one another. If a personal document is needed for the company application, mark it clearly. If an answer about your activity determines the choice of country, place that decision before major relocation expenses.
- For each step: the expected outcome and the document that proves it.
- For each contact: their assignment, quote and tasks you still handle.
- For each dependency: the prerequisite and a plan if it is delayed.
- For each recurring obligation: an owner and the next review date.
Compare quotes with the same scope
Request a breakdown between formation, administrative support and ongoing services. Clarify included fees, external charges and events that could increase the bill. Keep the currency, quote date and underlying assumptions.
Arrange a separate discussion about your tax and social security situation with a professional qualified in the countries concerned. Give them the facts: where the household lives, the actual activities, clients and existing companies. RelocDesk organises answers and deadlines; the relevant authorities and professionals assess your situation.
Prepare ongoing operations before the first invoice
Once the company is formed, your organisation should let you retrieve contracts, supporting documents and contacts. Ask who will handle filings, renewals and changes in circumstances. Add these tasks to the calendar before considering formation complete.
In RelocDesk, keep business steps separate from household steps and save your options in the comparators. You can then see what is ready, what is waiting for an answer and what truly determines your departure.
